Restoration from the invisible wounds we suffer can take a lifetime. Both professional therapists and the veterans I've met and connected with agree that a common first step for all of us is to recognize our soldier's heart and share it with our loved ones. This was the hardest part of my journey towards restoration, and I'm sure this is the case for many of you, as well.
Oftentimes, the “noise” of our lives drowns out our ability to truly feel and reflect on our psychological and emotional wounds or blind spots. My hope is that Elliot’s journey in Soldier’s Heart serves as the same inspiration to help you begin your own reflections that it has for the many veterans and Restore Our Soldiers community members who have already seen the movie and shared their thoughts and reflections about their experiences and healing with us in the Restore Our Soldiers Community. I’ve posted these on our Community Blog which is updated weekly with new letters that I receive from viewers around the world. You can reach our community page here.
I created the movie, Soldier’s Heart, as a way to help veterans express themselves and begin to talk about their experiences.
Soldier’s Heart Giving is a program we’ve started that would send Soldier’s Heart DVDs to veterans and soldiers around the world through associations, nonprofit organizations, and various national and international programs. We hope these DVDs will help many of our soldiers, past and present, begin their healing process from the trauma of war.
Every dollar that you give to Soldier’s Heart Giving will go towards the purchase of a full DVD for shipment to veterans and soldiers around the world.
